IZMIR THE PEARL OF TURKEY

The establishment of İzmir, the third largest city in Turkey, dates back to 8000 years ago. Izmir, whose history dates back to the Paleotic period, has hosted many civilizations from large empires to small ones. The Temple of Artemis, the 7th greatest wonder of the world, is in Izmir. After the establishment of the Turkish Republic, İzmir is Turkey's window opening to the west. İzmir, which has been an important trade center since its past, still maintains this feature. In the west of İzmir lies the Çeşme Peninsula with its wonderfully colorful sea, beaches and thermal centers. Ephesus, one of the most famous cities of ancient times, was one of the largest cities in the world during the Roman period. Ephesus, which embodies the richness of all Ionian culture, also makes a name for itself with intense artistic activities.
